English singer, song writer and record producer, Ellie Goulding, has become an embodiment of the English music scene with 66 nominations and 17 awards won.
Lights (2010), Halcyon (2012) and Delirium (2015) can be found in her discography, where you can enjoy the sound of her unique and original voice, a light-lyric soprano that spans 3.5 octaves and is famed for her high piercing vibrato, breathy tone and emotive delivery. She has described the sound of her voice as “out of control” and added that she has never had any singing lessons.
“Under the sheets” was her debut single in 2009 which peaked at number 53 in the UK, number 3 in Belgium and number 2 in Denmark. It was also rated four out of five starts by music editor Nick Levine from Digital Spy. Goulding considers it the “easiest song she has ever written”.
“Lights” was her debut album, released in 2010 and peaking at number 1 in the UK Albums Chart. The album also reached the fourth position in the Australian Hitseekers Albums Chart, and sixth in both the Irish and Scottish Albums Charts.
From her second album, she achieved number 1 in the UK’s Official Singles Chart with the single “Burn”. Goulding was surprised while performing at V Festival Chelmsford when pop star Rita Ora let her know she had just reached Number 1. During this period (2012-2014) Ellie released songs for multiple movies and performed at numerous festivals.
Her most recent album “Delirium” was released in 2014 featuring the song “Love me like you do” which reached number one in the UK Singles Chart for four weeks as well as number three on the US Billboard hot 100. With this song, Ellie was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance.
Without a doubt, Ellie has become a well-kown figure in the music industry and although she announced a “break” from music she released the song “Still falling for you” from the film “Bridget Jone’s Baby” and performed at the Mawazine festival in Rabat last May.
